Perserverance

This week the blog isn’t about a hunt. It’s past deer season and now I’m reflecting over who God brought to us this year and let us get to know. The last couple of hunts were a couple of the best. We had good messages and the last one with a group was actually our largest weekend. When camp is that full, with so much going on it would seem hard to actually get to know anyone. But, that isn’t always the case.

A young man and his father got to come both of the last weekends and it was a pleasure to have them. It’s great to build relationships with people and get to know their hearts. The young man wanted so bad to kill a deer, he hunted in the coldest stands and probably stayed out the longest. He had a drive that should teach us all something.

Perseverance is a big word, it means to be steadfast in doing something despite any difficulties or delays in achieving success. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 says ‘But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.’ You know as Christians it’s sometimes hard to not get discouraged and just plain out tired. But during those times we have to pray harder, study more, and seek his face. At the times when life is hardest, that’s when we learn the best lessons. We should strive to encourage others, because we all go through times of difficulty and delays where God tells us to wait. The young man may have grown weary, but he didn’t give up. He got his first deer on that last weekend, and what a blessing that was for each of us.

If you’re at a place where you feel discouraged and tired, I will encourage you with the words of Isaiah 40:31 ‘But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.’ If you keep your trust in him he will renew your strength, he will provide you with all that you need to make it. So, we pray that you keep working hard, don’t get weary, because you will make it, and oh what a reward you will have. Our prayers for your encouragement and strength. Be blessed and walk in His grace and mercy.

Love in Christ,
