Field Day 2019!

Last weekend we had an amazing day at Briar Ridge. It was our fourth annual field day, and to me it was the best so far. We ended up with about 85 children, and probably over 125 people total. The games were good, the food was great, and the children were amazing. I got to help with one of the games this year, which let me get to spend a little time with almost everyone there.

It was a blessing to have such a turn out and we appreciate all who showed up to join us in fun and worship. Everyone had a great time and the music and ministry were great. One of our board members brought the message, and we were blessed to have a couple of singers come and lead us in praise and worship. I pray this is just a glimpse of what will be in the coming year. I’m excited to see what God is doing. Hopefully some of you reading this will be able to join us this year.

Now, for the most important part of the blog. I know fun and games, food and fellowship is all great. But, the best part of the weekend was one soul. You see when all is said and done, that one soul is what made the weekend. One 9 year old little boy decided to give his heart to God. He made a decision. And that decision is what I want to talk to you about today.

Here lately I’ve been struggling. I want more… more of God. I want a better relationship, a closer walk with the one who is leading me. The little guy made a confession of faith and admitted he has been having that same struggle. God had been calling to him, and the little boy finally decided to answer the call. And although I answered God’s call to my life a long time ago, He is still calling me to draw closer to Him.

Do you find yourself struggling to draw closer to Jesus? You see, I’m pretty sure, that’s when I know my relationship with God is exactly where it needs to be. When I feel like I need more of Him and less of me I know my heart is right where it needs to be. Today I want you to look into your heart. Do you find yourself needing God more? Do you find a yearning to draw closer to the Creator of all things? I ask that if you find yourself longing for Him, give Him time to speak into your life. Pray, and give Him time to answer. Read His Word, not to just be reading, but to hear His voice.

Deer season is drawing close for us at Briar Ridge, and to everyone else it may just be a time to hunt… but for us, it’s a time for ministry. It’s a time to let God use us in whatever way He sees fit. It’s a time to step back and see His hand in the lives of those around us. I pray that your season of ministry is also in full swing. I pray that you also feel a deep yearning for more of the Savior. If He is calling, I pray that you answer. If you need prayers, or know someone that needs our ministry feel free to contact us. Let us serve you.

Love in Christ,

Briar Ridge
